NEW DELHI, FEB 26 -
CP Gajurel
, vice-chairman and international bureau in-charge of the CPN-Maoist,
has claimed that Western forces are behind the proposal to form a chief
justice-led government in Nepal.
Gajurel was answering journalists during a programme organised by the
party’s migrant organisation Akhil Bharat Nepal Ekta Manch at the
Jawaharlal Nehru University on Monday in the Indian Capital.
“This proposal emanated from the EU and was supported by India,”
claimed Gajurel, who along with other party leaders, met EU diplomats a
few days ago in Kathmandu. Gajurel described the proposal as a
conspiracy to destabilise state institutions.
“The reason seems to be to push the judiciary towards a failure which
will make Nepal a failed state, allowing more foreign interference,” he
claimed. He also warned of an agitation if a government was formed under
the sitting chief justice.
‘We’re not anti-Indian’
Gajurel argued that his party was ‘falsely portrayed as an anti-Indian
force.’ “We are never anti-Indian. Indian people are very supportive of
us and vice-versa,” he said. “We are only against the wrong policies of
the Indian state,” he added. Gajurel said that he is scheduled to meet
Indian leaders from the ruling Nationalist Congress Party and Left
parties and make them clear about his party’s policy and stance towards
India.
