Bowing down to intense pressure from various student unions, the Nepal Oil Corporation on Sunday officially rolled back on its decision to hike the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
In a statement issued on Sunday, the state-owned oil monopoly stated that the price hike was rolled back after holding talks with various student unions. The NOC said the price hike had to be withdrawan due to lack of preparations in the distribution of colour-coded LPG consumer cards.
NOC had raised the price of a LPG cylinder to Rs 2,100, up by Rs 630 on February 12. However, the decision was withheld until further decision after it sparked a huge outcry from several quarters. NOC had to make an official decision to deduct the price after various student unions agitated calling for the price to be officially deducted.
