KATHMANDU, FEB 15 -
Ncell U-15 Football Tournament is all set to begin from Friday in 45
districts, the organisers announced in a press meet on Thursday.
At least 10 clubs from each Anfa district chapters will compete in the tournament which runs till February 25.
General secretary of Anfa Dhirendra Pradhan commented that exceptional
players from the district clubs will be selected to form a regional
team. The selected five regional teams, Police, APF and Army will play
in the final eight. "We will pick the best players from the final rounds
to participate them in the AFC U-16 and SAFF U-16 championships," said
Pradhan.
Departmental clubs that don't have a junior team will directly advance
to the final rounds, but Kathmandu's 'A' division clubs have not been
invited. “Top division clubs are not included because their youth teams
don't play a significant role," said Anfa president Ganesh Thapa.
"If the district doesn't have ten clubs then we will need to question the involvement of that district.
“Anfa Academy players will not participate in the competition,” added Thapa.
